Unconscious Conflicts in the Process of Team Building and Functioning in an Organization

In today's world, where competition is becoming increasingly fierce and a high degree of uncertainty is an integral part of our lives, the effective functioning of teams in organizations plays a key role in achieving success. The purpose of this graduation qualification project is to investigate the impact of unconscious conflicts on the process of creating and functioning of teams in an organization. The study is based on the following hypotheses: 1. Intrapersonal unconscious conflicts of the leader and team members, as elements of group dynamics, affect the effectiveness of team functioning and its ability to achieve goals. 2. The solution of unconscious conflicts arising at the stage of formation and in the process of team functioning can be effective using psychoanalytic tools and consulting approaches. In the theoretical part, our task was to study and analyze theoretical approaches to defining teams and understanding their unconscious dynamics. In the empirical part, we conducted research and worked with two commercial companies representing different market segments and business sizes, with different organizational structures and leadership types, on conflict resolution in their teams, using psychodynamic and consulting techniques. On the basis of the research we developed a product - methodology for working with organizational conflict, which can be applied to companies and teams whose goals are hindered by tension, difficulties in communication between departments or individual participants in team processes. In our research we used both traditional consulting and psychoanalytical methods of work and proved the hypothesis that their combination serves as an effective tool to solve unconscious conflicts arising at the stage of formation and in the process of team functioning.
