Educational Programme: Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Business Consulting (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2024

This master's thesis investigates the underlying unconscious dynamics within an oncological surgical department, employing psychodynamic perspective to examine how these dynamics influence organizational behavior and decision-making. Theoretical discussions are complemented by empirical research carried out in a federal oncological center, integrating these insights into a practical framework. The central hypothesis posits that certain unconscious dynamics contribute to employee burnout and the activation of organizational defenses during periods of change. The thesis explores the profound effects of unconscious processes, including defense mechanisms and the management of collective anxieties, which are pivotal in shaping interactions among staff and impacting their psychological well-being. It further examines concepts such as organizational identity and the ego-ideal, crucial for understanding how medical professionals perceive themselves and their roles within the stressful environment of oncology.
