In the research work "Adolescence as the Basis for the Formation of Female Gender Identity" issues of identity in girls in adolescence were studied from the point of view of a psychoanalytic approach. The views of such psychoanalysts as: Jacqueline Schaffer, Karen Horney, Jeanine Chasse-Smirgel, Bela Grünberger, Melanie Klein, Otto Kernbreg, David Scharff, Michel Vincent, Ruggero Levy, Gertrude Dim-Ville, Egle and Moses Laufer were considered. The theoretical section analyzes and systematizes the concepts of gender identity, femininity in psychoanalysis, as well as the results of observations and psychoanalytic work with adolescents. The second part of the work is an analysis of the series “My So-Called Life,” which demonstrates a psychoanalytic understanding of the development of girls during puberty using the example of the main character. Ultimately, the study identifies factors influencing the successful overcoming of adolescent crises and the development of a healthy female gender identity, which contributes to a successful transition to adulthood and the formation of stable family relationships.
