The aim of the thesis is to study the projective defence mechanisms of recruiters (consultants and analysts of a staffing company) in the recruitment process and their influence on the quality and efficiency of work. The theoretical part presents a review of classical and modern psychoanalytic concepts of defence mechanisms and coping strategies, considers the mechanics of functioning of projective defences and transference, and describes the main canons of the object relations theory. In the empirical chapter, the author demonstrates the results of observations and interviews with seven respondents and analyses these data. Based on theoretical and empirical findings, the author concludes that projections and transference in the work of recruiters can negatively affect performance, while work experience and the level of professional identity do not reduce the effect of these mechanisms. In conclusion, the author offers a number of tools to improve the effectiveness of recruiters. The results of the study can be used to improve the efficiency of both external and internal recruiters. It may also be useful for organizational consultants working with recruitment specialists.
