At the beginning of the XVIII century, a new stage in the development of literature began in Russia, which included many translated books. In the early to mid-18th century, the percentage of translated literature was about 90. This indicates the great demand for the translation of foreign literature and further its printing in typography. In this regard, the work of a translator becomes very important, however, this did not exclude various difficulties faced by translators. This, as an example, there were problems with copyright, not printing their works for various reasons and low wages. Some translations remained in the manuscript, never getting into print. These manuscripts were then distributed by handwriting. Thus, the translations of the XVIII century collide with the handwritten tradition. The proposed sample from the Repository of the Pushkinsky Dom of the V. N. Peretz collection shows different variants of the reason for the translation to get into the manuscript and the different history of the manuscript's existence.
