Verbalization of the Comic in English and Italian Musical Comedies

This paper presents the topic of verbalization of the comic in English and Italian musical comedies. In this work, the musical comedies were analyzed in a diachronic approach. The relevance of this work lies in the fact that more and more people are interested in humour, and comedy films. The comical genre is one the genres, which a lot of people pay attention to, as well as a drama. The main purpose of the study is to identify which stylistic devices of verbalization are used by actors, directors and screenwriters in musical comedy films of Great Britain and Italy to achieve a comic effect. The following research methods were used: continuous sampling method, lexical analysis, comparative method of linguistics. The literature was analyzed on the theoretical side of humour, the change of humor in diachrony, on the specifics of humour for each country, on the change of humour in diachrony for each country, on the ways of verbalization of humor. The expected results of the study are that common stylistic techniques of both countries, specific techniques for achieving a comic effect for each country will be revealed, cultural peculiarities in the verbalization of humor of each country will be traced.
