Verbalization of Good and Evil in Russian, English and Spanish Fairy Tales

This study reflects the process of studying verbalization in fairy tales, namely the categories of "good" and "evil" in Russian, English and Spanish fairy tales. The main goal of the study is to identify specific linguistic means and constants of national thinking reflected in fairy tale discourse and their comparative analysis. To achieve this goal, the scientific traditions of studying fairy tales in the mentioned cultures are considered, the common features and differences in their structure are revealed, and the ways of verbalizing moral categories are analyzed. The source base of the study includes A.N. Afanasyev's collection "Folk Russian Fairy Tales", Joseph Jacobs' collection "English Fairy Tales" and several Spanish collections, such as "Cuentos populares españoles" by Aurelio M. Espinosa and Jose-Maria Gelbensu. The methodological basis of the work includes stylistic and lexical analysis, continuous sampling and comparative analysis based on the scientific principles of generalizability, objectivity, provability and verifiability. The theoretical significance of the study lies in the analysis of verbalization of good and evil in fairy tales, which contributes to the further development of the theory of translation and understanding of national and cultural peculiarities of fairy tale discourse. The practical significance of the work is expressed in the possibility of using the results obtained in the development of courses in stylistics, lexicology, cultural studies and translation, as well as in the development of translation strategies for fiction texts. The structure of the work includes an introduction, two chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter deals with the tradition of studying fairy tales in Russian, English and Spanish academic environment, the second chapter deals with the peculiarities of verbalization of good and evil on the example of fairy tales from each culture. The conclusion summarizes the results of the study and outlines the prospects for further work.
