The process of adapting a literary work for a film or video game is a significant trend in contemporary culture. As the medium changes, so does the content. Games have an “agency” factor, which allows players to influence the narrative world (for instance, by moving freely, influencing dialogue, etc.). Similarly, the process of film adaptation involves adapting the plot and incorporating audiovisual elements. The Witcher franchise continues to attract the attention of scholars. Most of the research focuses on identifying differences between various versions of the franchise, including novels by A. Sapkowski, video games developed by CD Projekt RED, and adaptations by Netflix. However, these studies ignore the very fact of how these inaccuracies affect the overall narrative and perception of the text. The aim of this study is not only to summarize these observations, but also to elucidate their significance for the overarching narrative. The study also identifies the techniques used to expand the text.
