Sentences with noun phrases headed by nouns with quantitative meaning demonstrate variations in subject-verb agreement in singular and plural forms. Contradictions arise between the semantic and formal impact of the subject on the form of the predicate. The aim of this study is to identify the primary factors that influence the selection of predicate forms when agreeing with the subject expressed by a noun phrase headed by a noun with the semantics of an indefinite large quantity. This analysis is based on unedited texts and data collected during linguistic experiments. Different quantifiers were selected for the study based on their grammatical characteristics and the various agreement options they allow, including those that are relatively rare in the Russian language: большинство, множество, прорва, куча, масса, уйма. The conducted corpus analysis and experimental research have expanded our understanding of the variability of types of subject-verb agreement with noun phrases headed by nouns with the semantics of indefinite large quantity. They have also demonstrated the presence of a strategy of subject-verb agreement in the singular neuter gender with subjects headed by noun of feminine gender in modern Russian. Furthermore, the research aims to assess the acceptability of this strategy, clarify the impact of factors previously identified by researchers on new data, and determine their relevance and extent for subject-verb agreement in modern Russian speech.
