The Economic Assessment of Molecular Diagnostic Methods in Russia

Student: Elizaveta Makashova

Supervisor: Nikolay Avxentyev

Faculty: Faculty of Social Sciences

Educational Programme: Health Care Administration and Economics (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2024

In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on molecular genetic studies in medical research. Identifying the molecular causes of diseases has a significant impact on the strategies for observation, treatment, and family planning. However, this can also result in increased financial pressures on healthcare systems. One potential solution to reduce research costs is to strategically prioritize and sequence testing protocols based on performance and cost. In our study, we conducted a cost-benefit analysis for various inherited diseases and developed optimal screening strategies for each disease group.
