Development of the Tool for Assessing Media and Information Literacy of High School Students

The paper describes the process of creating and testing a tool for measuring media and information literacy of graduates of the specialized program “Media Class at Moscow School”. To create the test, various theoretical approaches to defining media and information literacy were considered, the construct was operationalized, and a study was conducted using in-depth interviews with program teachers and content analysis of educational and methodological materials. As a result, a demonstration version and criterion scales were developed for normative-oriented testing of graduates of the educational program. The methodological development was tested at the municipal level in Moscow, the results of the testing were summed up and recommendations were made for the further development of testing. The developed tasks and criminal scales were highly appreciated by experts and stakeholders of the “Media Class at Moscow School” project.
