The purpose of this research work is to study the relationship between motivation and self-efficacy of students during the transition from 4th to 5th grade. For this purpose, two samples of students from two schools in the Borovsky district of the Kaluga region were used. The study was conducted in two different time periods: April-October 2023 and April 2024. The survey method and the results of the VPR were chosen as the research method. The study is quantitative and aims to evaluate and measure phenomena related to motivation and self-efficacy of students, as well as their impact on academic performance. The study examined the relationship between motivation, self-efficacy and academic performance of students in various groups of respondents, such as class teacher and class teacher, gender of students (boys and girls), migration status (migrants and Russians) and students in grades 4 and 5. To identify the relationships, data analysis was performed using correlations and linear regression, as well as descriptive statistics and statistical analysis by t-test. The study found a positive relationship between motivation, self-efficacy and academic performance. The contribution that motivation and self-efficacy make to the results in mathematics, the Russian language and the world around them was described. The practical significance of this study lies in the fact that its results can be used by school psychologists and primary and secondary school teachers. This study can help organize preventive work with children and their parents, as well as provide an individual approach to the development of motivation and self-efficacy of each student. In addition, it can be useful for providing psychological and pedagogical support to students during the transition to a new level of education.
