Representation of basic emotions in the Russian and Czech languages

Student: Eremeeva Kseniia

Supervisor:

Faculty: Faculty of Humanities (Nizhny Novgorod)

Educational Programme: Fundamental and Applied Linguistics (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2024

The purpose of this study is to examine and compare six concepts of basic emotions in related Slavic languages. Culture influences the perception of the world and ways of expressing emotions, which are phenomena conceptualised by human consciousness. In the field of concept studies there have been many comparative studies of the conceptospheres of different languages, but it is difficult not to note the lack of studies that focus on the study of cognate languages. This includes Russian (East Slavic) and Czech (West Slavic). The study of ways of representing emotions in related languages, whose historical development paths differed to a large extent from each other, is interesting from the point of view of tracing preserved and lost links.
