A poetry of Georgy Echeistov, increasingly important for understanding the evolution of Russian modernist poetry, still was not published until the present days and any comprehensive analysis of his poetical heritage has not been undertaken. Compared to the amount of the researches devoted to the well-known representatives of modernism and avant-garde (Gasparov 1997; Jacquard 1995; Nilsson 1983; Pechorov 2000), whose works exemplify the poetics of futurism and symbolism as successive movements in the literature of the 20th century, this historic and literary process has not been analyzed on the material of the second plan literature. The purpose of the study is to identify poetic principles and specify features of Echeistov’s artistic world at the intersection of symbolism and futurism. The methodological tools underlying this study include cultural-historical, structural and intertextual methods. Possible results of the study may be the indication that the choice of lexical means, as well as means of rhythm and graphic design of the poem vary depending on the chosen literary tradition. Meanwhile the motive and imaginative aspect of creativity remains unchanged. The research materials may be used in lecture courses on the disciplines "History of Russian Literature", "Modernist Poetry" or as the reference material for future editions of G. Echeistov's poetry
