The study raises the topic of alcohol and tobacco consumption, which is the most important topic for Russian healthcare during the 2019-2022 crises. Based on the data from the RLMS-HSE survey, a qualitative and empirical analysis was carried out. It was possible to find out how the patterns of consumer behavior in relation to these products changed. We have found that depression and anxiety during crises increase the likelihood of smoking, as well as increase the level of moonshine consumption by men, while lack of work, on the contrary, reduces both indicators. In addition, it turned out that the consumption of moonshine increased compared to other drinks during the specified period. In conclusion, we saw that the death rate from alcohol poisoning has the same trajectories of change as the average level of alcohol consumption.
