The Savings Behaviour of the Russian Population (Based on a Longitudinal Study by the Bank of Russia)

In the last 10 years, a number of political events, starting with the annexation of the territory of Crimea to the Russian Federation was caused by the imposition of sanctions, negatively affecting the stability of the economic situation of the country and its citizens, coronavirus infection has also negatively affected the economic situation of the country. The problem of the study is a contradiction: despite the general financially unstable situation of Russians there is an active growth of consumer lending, which does not meet the conditions of stability that are necessary when entering into debt obligations for the possibility of planning and confidence in the possibility of debt repayment. With the help of longitudinal survey of the Bank of Russia, conducted in 2013-2022 years will be analyzed the factors and their changes affecting the credit behavior of Russians. This study may become a basis for a more in-depth analysis of regional differences in the consumer credit sector, as well as generally help in the overall view of the consumer credit sector and the current trends in consumer credit in Russia.
