Permutation Polynomials as a Topic of the Project Work of Students of Specialized Classes

Student: Margarita Arbuzova

Supervisor: Alexander Shtern

Faculty: Faculty of Mathematics

Educational Programme: Joint Bachelor's Programme with the Centre for Teaching Excellence (Bachelor)

Final Grade: 7

Year of Graduation: 2024

Students' project work is an important element of studying Mathematics at school. In this work I suggest to take permutation polynomials as the main object. Permutation polynomials are - polynomials over the field Z_p that carry out the bijection between this set and itself as functions. As part of the project, students are offered to master the necessary definitions and properties using lectures and assignments. After that, they proceed to the practice, where they build models using a programming language chosen by the student. This allows them to visually demonstrate their results of working with permutation polynomials.
