Artificial Intelligence is a topic that is increasingly popular in all areas of our lives. Some believe that AI will give impetus to a new technological revolution, others fear for the safety of the jobs or the quality of performance of the functions entrusted to the algorithm, while others believe that the interest in generative models is nothing more than a bubble that will not be able to significantly affect anything. Corporations that directly affect the global economy do not stand aside either: every day we hear about new generative models and new ways of using them, which businesses are trying to implement. In this paper, I investigated the impact of AI on the profitability of companies, in relation to their connection to certain industries of the economy, using the example of the release of the ChatGPT-3.5 model from OpenAI. Unfortunately, it was not possible to identify a significant effect: the development of the neural network coincided with a difficult period for the economy, so it was impossible to separate the studied effect from the influence of much stronger external factors. However, the result of the work was the conclusion that the company's connection with the IT industry explains 75% of the similarity in the change in their profitability after the release of the ChatGPT-3.5 model.
