In the first part of the diploma we consider the fundamental problem of nonlinear wave propagation in the damped-driven granular lattice mounted on a linear elastic foundation. The problem formulation assumes general type of strongly nonlinear inter-site potential and subject to an external harmonic forcing in the form of a traveling wave. In the present part of the work we focus on the analysis of moving "breather" and "kink" solutions forming in the damped-driven chain. The second part is devoted to the problem of escape of a classical particle from a potential well under external harmonic forcing. We consider a system with "soft" type of nonlinearity - pendulum - with three different excitation modalities: application of periodic external angular momentum, horizontal and vertical drive of the suspension point. We consider two problems: finding escape threshold for zero initial conditions and defining the "safety basins" - sets of initial conditions from which the escape event does not occur.

Student Theses at HSE must be completed in accordance with the University Rules and regulations specified by each educational programme.

Summaries of all theses must be published and made freely available on the HSE website.

The full text of a thesis can be published in open access on the HSE website only if the authoring student (copyright holder) agrees, or, if the thesis was written by a team of students, if all the co-authors (copyright holders) agree. After a thesis is published on the HSE website, it obtains the status of an online publication.

Student theses are objects of copyright and their use is subject to limitations in accordance with the Russian Federation’s law on intellectual property.

In the event that a thesis is quoted or otherwise used, reference to the author’s name and the source of quotation is required.
