This graduation thesis focuses on analysing the correlation between the spread of information regarding the COVID-19 epidemic and the fluctuations in global economic markets. The paper investigates the effect of the news background related to the progress of the epidemiological situation on the financial market. As a financial advisor, it's important to consider the research methodology, which involves gathering and analysing data on media coverage of the coronavirus. This includes examining the number of publications dedicated to the topic and using regression analysis to understand how this information impacts the index. The study's results indicate that the way in which information related to the coronavirus is spread greatly influences the views of investors and has the potential to introduce volatility into financial markets. It has been revealed that markets react differently to positive and negative news regarding the development of the pandemic. This work provides valuable insights into how external shocks affect financial markets, offering guidance for investors, analysts, and regulators in navigating information challenges during times of economic uncertainty. Keywords: coronavirus, COVID-19, financial markets, volatility, information shocks, econometric modeling.
