Happiness in Old Age: Intergenerational Support and Life Satisfaction

This paper studies the relationship between intergenerational support and life satisfaction of elderly utilizing the data from 2019 of the RLMS-HSE. The main analysis is conducted using the ordered probit model with robustness check of our findings. The results received are: financial transfers from offspring have no association with life satisfaction of Russian elderly, there is a positive association between transfer of services produced by offspring and life satisfaction of Russian elderly. This study is useful for government to develop social and economic policies.
