The paper discusses the growth of e-commerce, particularly the rise of marketplaces, which have captured a substantial share of the online retail market, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study delves into various aspects of online retail, including consumer behavior, market trends, and the unique challenges faced by Russian marketplaces compared to their Western counterparts. It emphasizes the importance of adapting successful international practices to the Russian context and examines key factors influencing profitability in online retail. Through an econometric model, the paper analyzes the impact of pricing, competition, and other variables on sales, providing insights into effective competitive strategies for marketplaces.
