This paper studies approaches to family prosopography design via the application of ontological models and their usage in the Family Media project. The purpose of the thesis is to describe the approach towards the design of the ontological model and its practical usage. The practical significance of the thesis lies in the applicability of its results in the workflow of companies and services that research the family prosopography topic (in this thesis we tie our conclusions with the Family Media (hereinafter — ‘FM’). The analysis featured present-day approaches toward ontological model design as well as the author’s practical experience in developing the FM project. In this case, the ontological model becomes not just a theoretical framework for research, but also turns into an applied tool for working on family prosopography, providing the necessary structure of the work and allowing for a better result.
