The problem can be solved by training specialists of various levels by educational organizations, which requires activation of career guidance activities of young people to attract them to industry. The article examines approaches to organizing career guidance activities based on both professional self-determination of young people and on labor market demands. Based on a survey of 925 students from the Penza Region, Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Dagestan, the reasons influencing the choice of profession and educational institution and self-realization in industry in the region of residence were identified. Based on in-depth interviews with representatives of regional government bodies, educational institutions and specialized organizations of industrial clusters, the directions and tools of career guidance activities in industrial clusters were determined. It was revealed that approaches to the professional orientation of its participants are aimed at meeting labor market demands, which leads to a gap between the professional self-determination of young people and the needs of industries. The results of the study can be used in the formation of a system for managing career guidance activities to provide industrial cluster enterprises with qualified personnel.
