The event had the following objectives:

  • To acquaint the participants of the event with the results of the study of the possibility of creating special conditions for teaching children with special educational needs (not related to the categories of "children with disabilities" and "disabled children") in general education organizations
  • To present the opinions of the parent and expert community on the conditions necessary for children with special educational needs in general education organizations, the characteristics of a friendly environment
  • Discuss assessments of the current state, barriers and opportunities for creating a friendly environment for children with special educational needs.

Maria Kozlova, Roman Karikh, Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova presented the results of a sociological study of the problems of the educational environment. Interviews with experts and a survey of parents of children with different characteristics made it possible to analyze existing attitudes and identify contradictions in the structural, relational and cognitive dimensions of the friendliness of the educational context.
