Maria Malofeeva's research has received a high expert assessment!
Maria took 2nd place in the nomination "The best research work in sociology for master students and graduates in 2023".
Maria participated in the competition with a research paper on the topic: "Social identity and professional choice of adult children of deaf parents", prepared on the basis of a bachelor's thesis. This study was carried out under the scientific supervision of Nikita Bolshakov, PhD, a Leading Research Fellow at the ILSIR , Associate Professor of the Department of Sociological Research Methods.
The study was devoted to hearing children of deaf parents, a special social group whose socialization takes place in two cultures (hearing and deaf), and how hearing children of deaf parents make professional choices. The results of the study presented the mechanisms of making professional choices by hearing children of deaf parents and revealed the role of self-identification relative to other social groups (culturally hearing, culturally deaf, etc.) in this process.
Maria Malofeeva noted that she was extremely pleased with the results of the Competition and grateful for the support of the supervisor throughout all stages of the research, and also advised not to be afraid to try yourself in scientific competitions and believe in yourself!
We sincerely wish Maria fruitful scientific work and further academic success!
