The setting up of the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research was a part of the strategic effort of the HSE University to generate the 'know how' and technical expertise. The Lab focuses on international and interregional cooperation in research and teaching, and on creating an international network as a source of multidiciplinary scholarship, education, expertise and facilitation of social improvement, integration and innovation.

On May 23-24, the 2nd international conference "Social Work & Social Research" was held, where employees of the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research took part. The conference was held in Baku (Azerbaijan) at the University of Azerbaijan.

On May 21, 2025, a joint meeting of the ILSIR and the HSE Department of Sociology was held, during which the preliminary defense of the ILSIR  postgraduate student Saikot Ghosh took place.

On June 9, 2025, the GES-2 Culture House hosted a screening of the documentary film Marlee Matlin: No Longer Alone, dedicated to the life of actress Marlee Matlin, the first deaf Oscar winner. After the screening, a discussion was held, in which Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova took part

On May 28, 2025, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation hosted a public presentation of the results of the study of the activities of day care centers for children and young people with disabilities. The event was attended by the head of the laboratory Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova, research intern Danila Parshchikov and student 4 course of the OP "Sociology" Alexey Vaizer. The meeting was moderated by Alina Sokhatskaya, head of the strategic program of the Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of the Russian Federation "Support through life".

On April 28, the ILSIR hosted a seminar of the HSE FSS project group entitled “Educational Courses for the Elderly as a Resource for Active Longevity.” The speaker was ILSIR research intern and postgraduate student Egor Novgorodov. The topic report: "Gamification and video games for older people: trends and prospects." The founder of the social project Everland, Igor Novikov, spoke as a discussant at the seminar.

On April 29, 2025, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation hosted a public presentation of the results of a study devoted to parental perception of the implementation of an ethical information protocol when a child is suspected or diagnosed with a disabling diagnosis. The event was attended by the head of the laboratory Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova and research intern Mikhail Korzh.
