Visa requirements

Under the current immigration legislation of the Russian Federation, citizens of most countries must obtain a visa prior to entering the country .

You can make an appointment at the Russian Embassy or Consulate in advance, but please note that it takes at least 14 working days to issue an invitation.

Visa-free

Citizens of these countries can enter Russia without a visa.

E-visa

As of August 1, 2023 citizens of 55 countries may be granted an e-visa to enter Russia for private or business visit, tourism, as well as for participating in scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic, sporting events and carrying out relevant communications and contacts.

How to get a visa

Fill in the e-visa application form

Use your personal account on the specialized website of the Russian Foreign Ministry to apply for the e-visa

Make the payment

Get an e-visa grant notification on the website or by e-mail

Print out the notification or download it to your mobile device

Show the notification to a transport company employee

Show the notification to the Russian Border Service officer at the border crossing point

  • Apply no later than 4 calendar days prior to the expected date of entry

  • Holders of e-visas do not need to provide invitations or any other documents proving the purpose of their visit
