Russia-Brazil International Partners’ Day

International Partners’ Day is a central international event at HSE University. The major goal of International Partners’ Day is to provide a multi-faceted platform for enhancing international humanitarian cooperation between HSE University and its partners. It allows us to synchronize and adjust developing strategies in order to further enhance our deepening partnerships. The key areas of discussion are academic mobility, digitalization in education and practice-oriented scientific cooperation in the era of change and global upheaval.

International Partners’ Day offers a unique opportunity to find out more about HSE University, while also sharing innovations and best practices in international education and mobility, strengthening existing partnerships and developing new ones. The event also provides opportunities for networking, social activities, dynamic, thought-provoking and fruitful discussions, and collaborative problem-solving.

News

On October 14, 2024, International Partnership Day Russia–Brazil took place at HSE University. The event was organised in collaboration with the Brazilian Embassy in Moscow and marked the first Brazilian academic and scientific mission to Russia, leading to the signing of cooperation agreements between HSE University and four Brazilian universities.
October 15
The X BRICS International Youth Summit was held in Ulyanovsk on July 22–26. For the first time, the event brought together representatives of youth organizations, students, and activists from all BRICS countries, including new members of the group: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. Among the attendees of the summit were representatives of the BRICS Expert Council, which was established at HSE University following an order by the Russian Government at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance. The Council performs expertise, analysis, and academic research on the most relevant issues of political, socio-economic and humanitarian cooperation among the BRICS members.

In early July, the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs (WEIA) on Malaya Ordynka hosted the annual Open Air Festival of its bachelor's programmes. In a relaxed atmosphere of the inner courtyard, guests interacted with WEIA administrators, faculty members, students, and graduates. Chinese characters and ice cream, origami and photo sessions, Portuguese desserts and Korean souvenirs, Turkish sweets, and African stickers were just a fraction of what guests could taste, enjoy, or win in quizzes testing their knowledge of the world.
July 18
On July 13, HSE University-St Petersburg participated in the festival of Latin American countries in 'Sevkabel Port' covering the history, culture and traditions of the region. The festival gathered 12 heads and representatives of diplomatic institutions of the Latin American countries in Russia and citizens of St Petersburg. HSE University-St Petersburg presented the interdisciplinary track on Latin America. It unites courses of three educational Bachelor's programmes in Political Science, Economics and Media Communications. The regional track will become a new stage of cooperation between HSE University and Latin America.
July 17
The HSE Faculty of Law hosted an online meeting with law schools and expert centres from BRICS countries. The purpose of the event was to join efforts to advance legal science and practice for the benefit of the organization. To this end, at the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty of Law Vadim Vinogradov, a Consortium of BRICS Law Schools was established, comprising representatives of leading higher education institutions from a number of countries.
July 12
On July 3–4, Moscow hosted the IX BRICS Civil Forum, which was attended by representatives from every new member state of the group. The event was organized by the BRICS Expert Council-Russia, in line with the official calendar of events for Russia’s BRICS Chairship in 2024. This Forum became a landmark event, marking an important milestone in the institutionalization of the BRICS civil society process under Russia's Chairship.
July 07
A meeting of the BRICS Coordination Committee on Antimonopoly Policy was held in Geneva as part of Russia's BRICS Chairship in 2024. The meeting participants supported a project to launch a BRICS Interstate Platform on Fair Competition, developed by the International BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre of HSE University and presented by the FAS of Russia as an initiative of the Russian Chairship.
July 04
The BRICS Academic Forum officially opened on May 22 under the motto "BRICS: New Figures at the Global Chessboard," bringing together more than 200 representatives of the expert community from across the BRICS member states. Representatives of more than 10 countries are taking part in the forum. The event's opening ceremony featured a number of prominent speakers, including Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation and Russian BRICS Sherpa Sergey Ryabkov; HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov; First Deputy Chair of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Federal Assembly and Board Chair of the National Committee on BRICS ResearchVyacheslav Nikonov; and Head of the BRICS Expert Council-Russia, HSE University Vice Rector and Russian W20 Sherpa Victoria Panova.

Expert of Laboratory on Climate Change Economics Altana Davydova participated in the conference of Central Bank of Brazil. She presented the report "Comparison of carbon regulation scenarios for the BRICS and EAEU countries using the GTAP-E computable general equilibrium model"

The School of Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the HSE University welcomed the Brazilian professor of Economy, Bruno De Conti, to debate the priorities of the Brazilian presidency of the G20 in an open lecture, held in April 25th, 2024.
