What are the benefits of the programme?
This MA Programme has the distinction of being the sole Programme on Asian Studies in Russia, taught in English language. It is also unique in using written sources in the languages of Asian regions as the fundamental teaching and research material. This is the only MA Programme focused on Contemporary Asian Studies. Students from different countries participate in this Programme, creating the benefit of global intellectual interaction.

Asia ranks number 1 among regions of the world ordered by population. The current population of Asia is about 4,567,427,540 as of January 2019, based on the latest United Nations estimates.
The world’s fastest-growing economies being experienced across much of Asia and Africa. The Economy of Asia comprises more than 4.4 billion people (60% of the world population).

We will teach you to analyses the roles of the state in market economy, to examine different forms of government intervention into economic life, to understand socioeconomic transformation in East Asia. The course “State, Society and Economy in East Asia ” investigates the theoretical as well as practical aspects of the roles of the State as an agent of economic development in East Asian countries.

The course “Business and Entrepreneurship in Asia” is for you. It designed to introduce the fundamentals of economics and business culture, investing, management, entrepreneurship and running business in China, South East Asia, Japan, Korea and Middle East and South and South East Asia including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The course "Contemporary International Relations in the Asia-Pacific Region" aims at equipping students majoring in Asian studies with a comprehensive understanding of classical and currently forming theoretical approaches as well as some of the main theoretical debates over issues that span the fields of International Relations, Comparative Politics and Asian studies.
The course “Russia and Asian countries» deals with Russian policy with regard to China, Korea and Japan.
The course “BRICS and the SCO States and Modern World Order” focuses on the main reasons for setting up political and trade Blocs in World and Regional framework giving prospects to shape general patterns of new Integration Process. Course examines BRICS and the SCO as a new pivotal global and regional system in the international context, focusing on security, economic ties and transnational global relations.

The course "Ethno-religious Processes in Asia" aims to deepen students’ professional knowledge in the area of ethnic and religious contradictions in Asia. It deals with the roots of ethnicity, ethnic and religious conflict and war in theoretical and critical perspective. It also develops students’ skills in researching and analyzing ethnic and confessional interactions in Asian regional perspective.
