Maryam Azish: "HSE opens up new horizons"

Maryam Azish – 2nd year student of the master’s programme "Socioeconomic and Political Development of Modern Asia": “Thanks to the excellent information I gained from my teachers in HSE, I have written several op-ed articles in famous news agencies and journals of the world. I consider the major contributors behind my achievement are the teachers of HSE Master’s Programme in Socioeconomic and Political Development of Modern Asia.”

I am an Iranian woman. This is my second master's degree after I obtained my first master's degree in 2015 from the Department of Communication Science, Islamic Azad University, Iran. In 2012, I joined Media College as a lecturer in the teaching media studies. I am currently a media expert in Tehran Times and IRNA in Iran.

In 2019, I received a scholarship from the Russian government and had the opportunity of studying at one of the best universities in Russia - HSE. The main reason I did my master's degree in Russia was to expand my own knowledge, open new horizons that will have great impact in my future and to be able to distribute my acquired knowledge among the students. I enrolled in the Master’s Programme in Socioeconomic and Political Development of Modern Asia, Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs. Studying at HSE has given me the chance to meet people from all over the world, which I think is very significant for my future life. I also have the chance to become acquainted with people in different countries of the world. The kindness of the Russian people has fascinated me.

I am studding in one of the best universities all over the world. Higher School of Economics is the best university in Moscow which enjoys top position in Global World University Rankings. I have already suggested this University to my friends, students and my colleagues. Because I assume HSE University's great academic staff and level of education can open new horizons for the students that will have great impact on their future. I was impressed by the behaviour of all the teachers. The university staff and my classmates have helped me in many ways.

HSE offers a brilliant education. I have had the chance to gain in-depth knowledge about Asia after enrolling in this program. Based on that knowledge, I have published several op-ed in different countries of the world. I consider the biggest contributors behind my achievements are the teachers of HSE Master’s Programme in Socioeconomic and Political Development of Modern Asia.

As a student of Master’s Programme in Socioeconomic and Political Development of Modern Asia, I am very joyful and I am proud.

I am thinking of doing PhD research via utilizing the knowledge I have gained from HSE. I think HSE's master's degree will pave the way for me to get my PhD scholarship.
