New elective course "Business Research Methods and Applied Strategy"
In the third module (January-March 2021), the master's program "Corporate Finance" will host an elective course "Business Research Methods and Applied Strategy", the Lecturer is Maxim Lapin
Maxim Lapin is Senior Lecturer, Professor of Practice at the Higher School of Economics, Member of the Management Board - Financial Director at Moscow Exchange.
Maxim graduated with honors from the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University.
Also, Columbia Business School, MBA in corporate finance and the List of Dean’s member - 3% of the best students.
Professional interests: Beyond the budget, Business research methods, Planning and analysis, Applied application of numerical methods, Statistical analysis, Big data, Digital Marketing, Corporate finance, Corporate strategy.
Prior to his appointment to the Moscow exchange, Maxim Lapin was a member of the management Board and Director of business development at MMK. Previously, from October 2009 to January 2014, he held the position of Director of planning and analysis at SIBUR LLC. In 2003-2009, he worked in the Moscow office of McKinsey & Company, where he worked on projects on strategy and operational efficiency in industry and in the banking industry.
In September 2017, he was appointed CFO and appointed to the management Board of the Moscow Exchange.Since 2018 - Chairman for Corporate Finance and Capital Markets of the Association of Russian Managers.
Maxim has been developing efficient business initiatives in finance and improving operations generating billions of dollars for the companies.

The Business Research Methods Course aims:
- to understand the nature of corporate business research;
- to learn to apply MECE tool in decision making;
- to explain which kind of business problems might need research study;
- to learn what value chain organizational blocks are used by corporations in their models and research to take decisions;
- to learn to implement the mechanism of logical thinking and analysis of the corporation value chain in function with examples of how data and analysis mechanisms apply logic and mathematics in business.
The course is related to the application of research techniques for business using market-based research design, forecasting tool, evaluating risk and return in business considering multiple perspective for effective decision making in business.
The course is oriented to a practical implication.
