HSE graduate student Elena Korobova stays connected with her alma mater since high school. First a student of HSE lyceum class, Elena went on to study at HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs and earned her bachelor’s with honours in 2022.Now in her second year of master’s studies, Elena shares about the reasons she chose ICEF that include English-medium instruction, Spanish, study abroad opportunities, and student-friendly atmosphere. The latter is largely credited to ICEF’s academics with experience of graduate studies abroad.
ICEF Team Competes in HSE INTER FOOTBALL CUP 2024
On March 2-3, the HSE Nizhny Novgorod hosted the HSE Inter Football Cup 2024. Competing in it were the student teams of HSE Moscow, ICEF (2023 Cup winner), Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, and Perm. The ICEF team gloriously won the third place.

Maxim Shibanov is in his first year of ICEF’s Master of Financial Economics programme. Maxim knows how to stay motivated when you are a humanities major working toward an academically demanding economics degree. A top graduate of Saint Petersburg State University, Maxim majors in political science but chose to change his field soon after graduation. He moved to Moscow and started his master’s studies at the International College of Economics and Finance. Maxim says he’s never regretted his choice despite having to study nine hours a day with no days off.

ICEF Master’s Programme Hosts Its Open Day
MSc Financial Economics held its Open Day on the 12th of November. Its prospective students were able to get first-hand information about the learning process and admission from the programme team, as well as hear from the former graduates about how their diplomas helped them start their careers in business and academia.
Promoting Growth Instead of Mere Money Making
Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) stand as supranational institutions for funding long-term economic projects and social initiatives on preferential terms. In her recent presentation before ICEF students, Daria Teterkina, who earned her master’s from HSE ICEF and currently serves as Assistant Manager for Cooperation with International Development Institutions at the Russian Ministry of Finance, has shed more light on where MDBs differ from commercial banks, what terms exist for Russia-MDB cooperation, and what opportunities there are for students to obtain experience of dealing with the MDBs at Finance Ministry.
