HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov has congratulated students, teachers, and staff on Knowledge Day, which marks the beginning of the new academic year and is celebrated in Russia on September 1. ‘This day marks the new opportunities that open up to us and calls us to climb the most unreachable heights,’ he said.

ICEF’s 2023 graduation ceremony was held in HSE Cultural Centre and celebrated the graduation of the 23^rd class of bachelor’s and the 15^th class of master’s students. The two classes were awarded their degrees and delivered graduation speeches before an audience of ICEF faculty, HSE leaders, staff, and families.

The 2022/23 academic year has come to an end and we feel this is the perfect time to reflect on the current performance and future progress of our master’s programme. Polina Chichulina enrolled in ICEF MSc Financial Economics after completing her bachelor’s studies at HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences. Currently in her first year of the programme, Polina joined SPIEF Academy 2023. Of the 18 students who presented their thesis studies, 3 received the maximum score (10) and 7 excellent scores (8 and 9). This year’s class’s theses deal with topics as diverse as cryptocurrency markets, pension schemes, gender impact on financial transactions, and even climate trade and carbon futures pricing.

Stepan Labudin, who earned his master’s from ICEF in 2022 and is currently a Yakov and Partners consultant, started studying economics after completing his sporting career. At the recently held MSc Financial Economics Webinar, the prospective students learned about the admission requirements, instruction, and prospects after graduation. Invited to speak before the audience were also programme graduates. They shared their experience of starting a career and gave tips on how to achieve academic success and jumpstart career.
