ASSA (Allied Social Science Associations), an annual event organized by the American Economic Association (AEA), was held in San Diego in early January 2020. We spoke with Udara Peiris, an associate professor at ICEF, who was one of the interviewers this year and met a few candidates at the ASSA. He told us which universities are active on the job market, how a scientist can get a job at ICEF, how the Moscow university can attract an international professor, and what reflects the prestige of the candidate on the academic labor market.
