The HSE Faculty of Law team successfully performed in the European regional round of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO law, held in Prague on 12-16 March 2019. The team was placed among four best European teams and has qualified to represent the Higher School of Economics in the Final Oral round which will take place in Geneva, Switzerland.
The HSE Faculty of Law was represented by Elena Murashko, Nikita Sinitsin, Zhargal Budaev (students of master’s programme 'Law in International Trade, Finance and Economic Integration') and Vadim Absaliamov (4th-year undergraduate student) together with Daria Boklan and Viktoriia Levchenko as coaches.
The John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition (formerly known as the ELSA WTO Moot Court Competition of Law) is the most prestigious international competition on WTO law. The competition is a simulated hearing in the World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement system. This year the case concerned the issues of violation of most-favoured-nation and national treatment in the sphere of government procurement, granting of subsidies to companies in the ‘green’ economy and rules of origin of goods.
The team would like to express its gratitude to theHSE Endowment Fund, which made the achievement possible.
Congratulations to the team and good luck in Geneva!
