Expedition to Primorsky Krai

As part of the HSE “Rediscovering Russia” program, seven first-year graduate students spent a week in Primorsky Krai. The field expedition, held in Vladivostok, was aimed at studying multilingualism, value orientations, migration, local identity, family and state language policies of the region.

Students visited the Far Eastern Federal University and worked together with researchers from the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography of the Far East, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Master students had been interviewing representatives of indigenous ethnic groups of Primorsky Krai, labor migrants and had been analyzing the language landscape of Vladivostok city.
