Master-class by Maria Amelina, Researcher at the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences
Master-classes for first-year students of the Master's programme "Language policy in the context of ethnocultural diversity" are continuing to take place. On February 19, a master-class was held by Maria Amelina, MD of the Department of Ural-Altaic Languages of the Institute of linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In her lecture "Linguistic ideologies in terms of language contacts and the dynamics of language shift in the lower reaches of the Yenisei (XX-beginning XXI century)" Maria Amelina told students about the concepts of linguistic ideology on the example of her field research, which took place in the lower reaches of the Yenisei river. The masters were able not only to expand their theoretical base in the field of linguistics and language policy, but also to see how field research is conducted. The researcher spoke about the process and results of interviews with residents of the Tukhard tundra, as well as about the historical and linguistic background of this region.
