Master-classes for first-year students of the Master's program "Language policy in the context of ethnocultural diversity" are continuing to take place. A master-class "Language contradictions in school education in the republics of the Russian Federation: causes and perception in public opinion» was held by E. M. Arutyunova on February, 19.

Master-class by Ekaterina Arutunova, Candidate of sociological Sciences, Senior Researcher in the Department of Ethnic Sociology, Institute of sociology, covered not only linguistic but also political issues in the region. The lecture was devoted to the problem of teaching native languages in schools of the republics of Russia, which, according to Ekaterina, often leads to conflict situations. The master-class turned into a lively discussion: Master students discussed the importance of teaching native languages starting from an early age, as well as the contradictory state of prescribed and actual language policy in Russian schools.
