The HSE School of Foreign Languages students at German culture festival
On June, 24 the “Foreign Languages and Cross-cultural Сommunication” programme students took part in an annual summer festival held by the Goethe Institute “Sommerfest” dedicated to German culture, language and music.
At the end of June, the Goethe Institute held the traditional festival "Sommerfest". This year’s programme was devoted to German music. The event gathered German culture and language enthusiasts, teachers and students, adults and children. Students of our School could not help but participate - we all know that fluency in German calls for having solid knowledge of grammar and vocabulary as well as understanding native speakers’ culture and mentality.
The students of our educational programme and other festival participants visited sample German lessons along with the workshops on the use of music in foreign language classes, which will undoubtedly come in handy in their future teaching career. Moreover, all the guests of the festival had an opportunity to talk with the lecturers from the Goethe Institute in the format of “speak-dating”.
The festival was also marked by a modern German music exhibition - “Lautstark”. The Master’s programme students examined the posters. Later they took part in a quiz and, having shown profound knowledge of the topic, received some memorable gifts.
After the educational part was over, all the participants had a chance to relax in the garden, have a taste of the German cuisine and enjoy the performance given by the headliners of the festival - GOLF - the music band whose songs have swept thousands of Europeans off their feet.
