Solar energy of the participants of the seminar "Coaching in business: international experience" in rainy London.

Following the annual workshop in London

Master's program "Business Psychology " is famous for holding annual seminars for students in the UK. Since our program was meaningfully influenced by the ideas of British business psychologists, it is important for us to stay on the top of it and to get acquainted with the experience of British colleagues, to track the modern trends of world business psychology, etc.
This year the seminar was aimed at studying the work of British coaches in business, as well as developing professional competencies for working with clients.
The first day was devoted to the experience of coaches. On March 27, the seminar was opened by Adina Taru, an experienced business psychologist, head of the consulting company Developing Leaders & Organizations, which has been cooperating with our program for many years. Adina posed the most important question about which coaching models reflect the development of this direction, and showed that the modern coach works outside specific models. Coaching beyond models is the main thesis of Adina. In her practice, coaching comes from specific data and the systematization of information to gain knowledge and wisdom in working with the client. This approach she considers viable in the work of modern coaches. The future is for coaches who can work on the basis of new technologies of an integrated nature.
Further, the experienced coaches of Edinburgh and London shared their experience with the students.
Lisa Kaboridis, coach, trainer, facilitator, with 25 years of experience in international business (Sony, pharmaceutical companies, etc.) presented the results of research and practical cases of virtual coaching in working with staff and company managers. In addition, she shows what is the specificity of the methodology of coaching based on neurobiology.
Olivia Graham, business psychologist and coaching, a business psychologist working in well-known companies and universities (Duce Corporative Education, London School of Economics, Imperial College London, London Business School, etc.) shared her experience working with leaders. She said that to strengthen leadership qualities such as self-awareness, efficiency and impact in Executive Coaching, the "Hour of Power" technology can work, aimed at generating potential problems and finding solutions to them.
In addition, Sharon Broghton presented a model of the work of Executive Coach, which is based on a combination of psychological and theatrical practices. A Shola Evolesi showed how important coaches can be in the activities of public organizations and the development of interaction between society and government.
On March 28, the guest of the seminar was Elena V. Mikhailova, who participated in the creation of our program and is co-author of the book "Introduction to Business Psychology" - the first textbook on business psychology published in the Higher School of Economics. Currently, Elena is a professional of international level, working in several countries around the world. In her presentation, she paid attention to the work of the business psychologist with clients, showed how to establish contact with the client, hold the first meeting, determine the boundaries of the consultant's involvement in working with the client, form its client base, etc.
A bright conclusion to the program of this day was the quest, which was held in the most beautiful place - the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. During the game, students were given the opportunity to understand their feelings for "their" client, and at the same time once again touch the great art.
On March 29, the seminar was held in Hyde Park. All gathered in a cozy cafe on the shore of the lake to talk with Professor Stephen Benton, who 20 years ago opened the Master's program Business Psychology at the University of Westminster. Today he is an academic adviser of the program "Business Psychology" in the Higher School of Economics, co-editor of the first international handbook "Business Psychology in the International Perspective" (2017). Students in an informal form could ask their questions to Stephen, talk with him about the main tasks and structure of business psychology, the specifics of the development of this field of applied psychology, etc.
After that, everyone joined together in the work on a small but pleasant project: "Spring Park as the space of a business psychologist". The project was aimed at researching the park space as a resource for the work of a business psychologist, the role of the environment in the specificity of the applied business-psychological technologies.
The completion of the seminar was held in the cafe of Kensington Palace. In a beautiful place it was pleasant to discuss the results of work on the project, to exchange impressions and new ideas, and also to get acquainted with the traditions of English tea drinking.
All participants were very satisfied with the days spent in London. They noted the great importance of visiting events for professional and personal development and thanked the team of the "Business Psychology" program for the excellent organization of the seminar.

The feedback of the seminar participant Elena Demushkina:
I would like to thank the team of the program for the opportunity and organization of an internship in London, at Imperial Business College. The first day of the meeting with the English colleagues - the coaches - was warm and interesting. Interesting presentations, dialogue, projects and experience of colleagues - unite. We explore similar challenges of the profession and work in a common field for people.
Thank you for the bright opportunity to meet  Elena  Mikhailova. Very interesting and useful is the experience of a professional who successfully builds practice in other cultures. And it was very interesting and instructive to spend  time so creatively, quest and training in the Victoria and Albert Museum of London.
And, finally, many thanks for the opportunity to meet with the founder of business psychology in the UK, Stephen Benton. An incredible opportunity from the first mouth to learn the story, to join the value of the profession and ask questions personally and in live communication.
Thanks Natalia Lvovna for the solar energy, she compensated for the lack of sun these days in London.
