Students at the Annual International Conference "Carpe Scientiam: Reaching ESG Goals in the Time of Global Changes"

On November 29, 2023, students from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National Research University (Higher School of Economics) participated in the annual international conference "Carpe Scientiam; reaching ESG goals in the time of global changes", organized by the Higher School of State Audit Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The students from the department of Population and Development presented four papers under the supervision of Alexander V. Larionov, PhD in Economic, PhD in Public Administration, associate professor.

"Awareness of Fistula and its Predictors Among Women of Reproductive Age in Sierra Leone" by Ismaila Abubakar and Oluwatosin Salvation Olanipekun

This paper examined the awareness and knowledge of fistula among women of reproductive age in Sierra Leone. The study found that awareness of fistula was low, but that there were several factors that were associated with increased awareness, such as education level and knowledge of reproductive health.

"Anemia among women of childbearing age in Mali: analysis from 2001-2018" by Ebenezer Kwesi Armah-Ansah

This paper analyzed the prevalence and determinants of anemia among women of childbearing age in Mali from 2001 to 2018. The study found that the prevalence of anemia was high, and that it was associated with several factors, such as poverty, low education, and early marriage.

"Impact of Renewable Energy adoption on Nigeria’s Energy Transition" by Anthony Eloghosa

This paper examined the impact of renewable energy adoption on Nigeria's energy transition. The study found that renewable energy adoption had a positive impact on the transition, and that it could help to reduce Nigeria's reliance on fossil fuels and improve its energy security.

"A GIS-based soil loss estimation, a case study of Upper East of Ghana" by Stephen Sodoke

This paper used GIS technology to estimate soil loss in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The study found that soil loss was high in the region, and that it was a major threat to agricultural productivity.

The annual international conference "Carpe Scientiam; reaching ESG goals in the time of global changes" is a leading international conference that brings together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss the latest research on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. The conference is a valuable forum for sharing knowledge and best practices on how to achieve ESG goals in the face of global challenges.

The students' presentations were well-received by the conference attendees. The students were commended for their research and their ability to present their findings in a clear and concise manner.
