What Does It Cost to Save Food
The conference dubbed "WHAT DOES IT COST TO SAVE FOOD" was organized by The Liaison Office with the Russian Federation (LOR) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) in collaboration with Messe Düsseldorf on the 29th of January 2019 in Moscow. In this conference, our student, Yaw Owusu Ansah, worked as a volunteer for FAO as part of his internship duties with this international organization.

Ambassadors of the Russian Language in the World
Our student, Vazgen Khansanamyan, took a part in the educational expedition of the international volunteer program "Ambassadors of the Russian Language in the World" for the 7th time. This time he traveled to Kyrgyzstan from November 24 to December 2. The expedition was organized by the Pushkin Institute and the Kyrgyz Economic University.
European Youth Forum General Assembly
Our student, Vera Syrokvash, attended the European Youth Forum General Assembly, which was held November 22-24 at the European Youth Capital-2019 Novi Sad, Serbia.
The workshops by Robert Gal, Hungarian Demographic Research Institute
At the end of November, Robert Gal, Senior Research Fellow at the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute, gave workshops for the students "Population and Development" on the National Transfer Account (NTA).
Congratulations to our student
Recently, the paper of our first-year student of the master’s programme Population and Development Zhang Ruocheng 张若城 was selected to the Scientific Seminar of the Association of Chinese Postgraduates and Scientists in Russia 2018. The event was organized by the Department of Education, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Russia.
International Autumn School devoted to “Demographic methods in public health research”
From September 24 to October 5, 2018, two of our students, Sally Sonia Simmons and Vitalie Stirba, received invitations to attend the International Autumn School devoted to “Demographic methods in public health research”.
It was held in Pushkin, suburb of St. Petersburg, Russia. Students share their experience.
An interview with the representative of Oxfam
In October, Zorica Skakun, from Oxfam GB in Syria, led two workshops on various aspects of violence against women for students of the ‘Population and Development’ Master’s programme. During the workshops, Ms Skakun gave an overview of international frameworks, mandates, and programmes aimed to end violence against women (VAW) and help survivors in various settings, including conflict zones and refugee camps. The students were also offered a group exercise where they brainstormed and presented ideas for pre-project problem analysis and activities to combat VAW in Syria
Dagmara Celik Katreniak, Assistant Professor of our Department, has received Award for Young Economist from Slovak Economic Association
The Award was granted during SEA annual meeting in Bratislava this September, for the research paper "Persistent overconfidence: Evidence from a randomized control trial in Uganda"
Oxfam Workshop on Violence against Women
On October 3rd and 4th Zorica Skakun, a gender coordinator for Oxfam GB in Yemen who provides support and leadership to ensure women's rights, presented two workshops on various aspects of violence against women for students of the programme "Population and Development".
