DASS Master class 'Pajek programme for analysis and visualization of complex networks'

At the end of the summer open days, the DASS programme will hold a master class dedicated to working with the Pajek programme for analyzing and visualizing large networks.

The Pajek programme, developed by scientists from the University of Ljubljana Vladimir Batagelj and Andrej Mrvar since 1996, is designed for the analysis and visualization of large networks (1000+ nodes). The programme is fully available for non-commercial use. In 2013, the Pajek programme was awarded the International Society of Network Researchers (INSNA) award.

The master class will be conducted by the head of the ANR-Lab Daria Maltseva, who studied the Pajek programme during her internships at the University of Ljubljana and joint work with prof. Vladimir Batagelj.

Participants of the master class will get acquainted with the basic functionality of the Pajek programme, learn how to create and modify network data, calculate basic network metrics for individual nodes and networks as a whole, create network visualizations, and also learn about the possibilities of advanced analysis of network data of various types (bimodal, acyclic, multirelational networks, clustering and blockmodeling, etc.). The master class will be aimed at giving participants a full understanding of the process of working with network data and being able to work in the Pajek programme during their research.
