Master's programme update: new name and two tracks
The online programme 'Applied Statistics with Network Analysis' has changed its name to 'Data Analytics and Social Statistics'. The programme update happened for a reason – we are sharing the details.
In the ranking of universities in the digital economy, the National Research University Higher School of Economics is consistently among the leaders. The assessment of universities was carried out on the basis of official statistics on the training of IT personnel and a survey of 90 respondents conducted by the ANO Digital Economy.
Thus, a decision was made to rename, as well as to create two tracks within the master’s programme 'Data Analytics and Social Statistics':
- The first track, Computational Social and Network Sciences, focuses on using computer science tools to solve research problems and implement applied projects. The track aims to understand the capabilities and limitations of IT tools from the point of view of social science methodology.
- The second track, Applied Statistics and Data Science, is focused on studying methods and approaches of statistical analysis for the implementation of applied tasks in social research.
The educational program accumulates the expertise of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research in the field of methodology, algorithms and software for analyzing networks and network data.
