Master class 'Pajek program for analysis and visualization of complex networks'
A MASNA webinar devoted to work in Pajek took place on June 29 for all MASNA applicants and all listeners who are interested in network analysis.
Pajek, being developed by researchers from the University of Ljubljana and ANR-Lab partners Vladimir Batagelj and Andrej Mrvar since 1996, is designed to analyze and visualize large networks (1,000+ nodes). The program is fully available for non-commercial use (Pajek website). In 2013, Pajek received an award from the International Network for Social Network Analysis (INSNA).
At the master class, we learned how to perform basic operations in Pajek in practice:
- generate a set of network data and modify the resulting networks,
- calculate the main metrics for individual nodes and the whole network,
- visualize the resulting networks.
In the second part of the webinar, Deputy Head of ANR-Lab Irina Pavlova talked about the master's program, the features of admission and education, and summer school hosted by ANR-Lab on July 4-8th, 2023.
