Start of the school year on the DASS programme
The Data Analytics and Social Statistics (DASS) academic year has begun!
We are pleased to welcome the new cohort of students. This year, 38 students were admitted to the programme, including 2 international students. Many of our first-year students already have a scientific degree or have built a career in the industry. This indicates the demand for knowledge and skills in data analytics in various fields. The admissions campaign took place from November 1 for foreign citizens and from April 1 for Russian citizens to September 16. During this time, the DASS programme team, together with ANR-Lab, held a lot of events, workshops and meetings with applicants. You can watch all the recordings of past events here and here.
On September 25, a general meeting of students with teachers and representatives of the academic office was held. Organizational issues were discussed at the meeting, and the main courses that students will take in the first module were presented. Among them:
- Intro to Programming with R and Python;
- Intro to Statistics;
- Contemporary Data Analysis;
- Applied Statistics and Data Science;
- Computational Social and Network Sciences and others.
Deputy Head of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research and Deputy Academic Director of the DASS programme
This year, the programme was launched under a new name, 'Data Analytics and Social Statistics.' The programme retains its fundamental nature and unconditional competitive advantages, laid down since the foundation of our master's programme, when it was called 'Applied Statistics with Network Analysis.' Our programme, as before, is implemented in English, and foreign teachers continue to teach on the programme. We are still the only master's programme in Russia that systematically teaches network analysis. Today, we offer our students a choice of two specializations and several new disciplines in the curriculum, creating even more opportunities for mastering different methodologies for working with data. In addition, the online degree format assumes more flexibility in mastering courses and planning your own time for studying disciplines. We are very pleased that our programme has a very rich geography of students, which also confirms the demand for the online format of education.
We are confident that these courses will help lay the foundation for a successful career in data analysis and statistics. Congratulations on your admission to the DASS programme and wish all our students a successful and productive study!
