HSE and the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences cooperate in new EU-funded Ph.D. fellowship program


BIGSSS–departs (doctoral education in partnerships) is a full-time international Ph.D. program co-funded by the European Union. It provides close supervision of dissertation work in a demand-tailored education and research environment at the University of Bremen and Bremen’s Jacobs University. Program fellows commit themselves to a 42-month structured curriculum, including a six-month stay abroad at one of the networks’ renowned partner institutions: besides National Research University Higher School of Economics, this group comprises the University of Edinburgh, Duke University, Manipal University, Sciences Po/Paris, Universitá degli studi di Milano, IIR Kiev, UNC at Chapel Hill, Bertelsmann Foundation and Edna Pasher PhD & Associates/Tel Aviv.

Applied Social Psychology student Alexandra Sivova makes it to the top 25% at Tilburg University

Alexandra Sivova, who was a student of the "Applied Social Psychology" program at HSE in 2014-2015, and this year graduated the double degree program, entered the top 25% of her year’s students at the Tilburg University.

VI Summer School "Designing Feasible Cross-Cultural Research: Sampling and Procedure"

From 9 to 12 June 2016, VI Summer School "Designing Feasible Cross-Cultural Research: Sampling and Procedure" was held outside Moscow, organized by the International Research and Teaching Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research of the Expert Institute at HSE. The headline teachers at the school were the leading researchers known across the world: Fons van de Vijver (PhD, Professor, Tilburg University) and Klaus Boehnke (PhD, Professor, Jacobs University, Bremen).

Year 2016 graduation for "Applied Social Psychology" students

7th and 8th of June were the determinant point for the 2014-2016 year students of Applied Social Psychology program – these two days were devoted to the final defenses of Master’s theses. After two years of theoretical and empirical research and two preliminary defenses, all of the fourteen works received excellent grades, and their authors – a degree of Master of Science.

III International Research Conference"Culture in society, between groups and across generations"

May 30th - June 1st the III International Research Conference "Culture in society, between groups and across generations”, organized by the International Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research at the Expert Institute of the Higher School of Economics took place in Moscow.

5th International scientific conference in Smolensk

On May 27-28, ILSCR staff members Nadezhda Lebedeva, Alexander Tatarko, Zarina Lepshokova, Victoria Galyapina, Marina Kotova, Dmitry Dubrov and Maria Drobovtseva took part in the Fifth international scientific conference  "Theoretical problems of ethnic and cross-cultural psychology".

«Methodology of a field research»: scientific seminar in Saint Petersburg, May 25-26

A two-day seminar was held in the Saint-Petersburg’s HSE department on the 25th-26th of May and was conducted by the lecturers of Applied Social Psychology programme: Alyona Khaptsova and Olga Poluektova. The seminar’s topic was ‘Methodology of a Field Research: The Cost-Quality Balance’.

Dean Talks about the Importance of Teaching Quality Assessment

Andrei Melville, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, encourages students to actively participate in the assessment and explains why student involvement in assessment procedure is important to the management of the Faculty.

Our students became semifinalists of the Potanin Foundation Scholarship program

Five students of our Master’s program became semifinalists of Potanin Fellowship Program contest: Olga Kopa, Olga Abramova, Maria Drobovtseva, Adylya Amiroslanova and Eugenia Agadullina. The whole day semifinalists participated in face-to-face round competing with 2 000 candidates for a stipend.

“THE VOICE” PSY HSE

On 18th of December students of our master program participated in  “THE VOICE” PSY HSE project. The 1st year master student Maria Rozhdestvenkaya participated as a member of organizational committee of the event. Our  students Priscilla Davies, Stella Ofori and Brenda Eleblu from Ghana were invited singers at the project this year.
