‘I Chose the Programme for Its Flexibility’
Master’s programme in Governance of Science, Technology, and Innovation has been offered by HSE ISSEK since 2014. It helps students acquire knowledge about science, technology and innovation management and policy. Below, Dirk Meissner, Academic Supervisor of the programme, talks about its key features and development. Besides, first and second-year international students describe their reasons for enrolling in the programme and share their experience of studying at HSE.

One word that sums up my journey in Russia so far is “spectacular”. It can say that “the Master’s Programme in STI at HSE has been a major turning point in my career”. The three main opportunities that the Master’s Programme has provided me are, prospect of an exciting career through a multidisciplinary programme, develop myself as a researcher in field of science, technology and innovation, study in an environment that has global perspective.

The students of HSE perfect it, studying theory, examining tools and cases. But it is known that knowledge and skills are much better learnt when resonating with the realities of life or with a relevant information agenda. Admissions Made Easy for International Students: 2018/2019 Academic Year
On November 15, international student admissions for undergraduate and Master’s programmes opened. This year, prospective students can apply to two programmes simultaneously. They’ll be able to track the application process online in their personal profile on the HSE website where they will receive notifications on the stages of their application’s review and decisions by the admissions committee. The documents for visa invitation can also be submitted there.
7th Annual International Academic Conference Foresight and STI Policy
On November 1–2, 2017, Higher School of Economics will host its 7 th Annual International Academic Conference "Foresight and STI Policy" organised by HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge. The graduation ceremony of the Master’s Programme Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation was held on June 30. 42 students graduated this year, including 12 from Europe, Africa and Asia.
Students Examine Cybersecurity Contextualization in Russia and the United States
Students from HSE ISSEK, Stanford University, and Rice University have researched how Russia and the US cooperate in cybersecurity and explored the nuances present in the approaches that each country takes in this area, including different understandings of cybersecurity-related terms. The research was conducted in 2016-2017 as part of the Stanford US-Russia Forum (SURF), a programme dedicated to developing US-Russia cooperation. Over a period of 8 months, 30 American and Russian students and young professionals worked on their projects.
