On April 26-30, researchers from the Center for Language and Brain participated in the summit Great Challenges for society, state and science organized by the Sirius University of Science and Technology. Olga Dragoy, Vladislava Staroverova and Nina Zdorova gave talks within the section Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience, and Human Behavior.

Olga Dragoy, the director of the Center for Language and Brain, talked about the ability of the human brain to compensate for a speech deficit in aphasia (title “Neural Plasticity in Brain Pathology”).

Vladislava Staroverova and Nina Zdorova, research interns at the Center for Language and Brain, presented results of a grant project on reading development in Russian children supported by the Russian Foundation of Fundamental Research (RFFR) together with the Sirius University.

Vladislava S. presented a study into Phonological and orthographic parafoveal processing during reading in second grade students and adults .

Nina Z. reported results of an eye tracking study Eye movements during reading in Russian children from grades 1-6 .
